AMU – ALEKSANDER MOISIU UNIVERSITY OF DURRESAMU – Aleksander Moisiu University of Durres was established by the Council of Ministers Decision No. 801 on 20.12.2005. AMU is the fastest-growing public university in the country with approximately 20,000 students in the three study cycles and six main units: Faculty of Business, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Information Technology, Faculty of Political Judicial Sciences, Faculty of Professional Studies, and Faculty of Integrated Studies with Practice. AMU is a student-centred institution which introduced new methods to foster and develop critical and analytical thinking as well as a sense of responsibility and social commitment. AMU offers study degrees in two languages (Albanian and English) and the evaluation system is based on the European Credits Transfer System (ECTS) and the American Credit System (USCs).
Why we are Participating in the Project
The VALUE-X project will help to foster and establish the basis for virtual courses and other components such as Virtual Mobility and Virtual Collaborative Learning which are new concepts for our institution. The Internationalisation of Curriculum (IoC) is a long process and as such needs to integrate the international dimension into both teaching, learning and content. “Aleksandër Moisiu” University aims to achieve the following goals
- Study programs that support mobilitiesfor academic and administrative staff;
- Study programs that support the exchanges and internships of students of different study cycles;
- Joint activities and publications in the field of research and/or innovation;
- Conferences, seminars, academic meetings, events, summer schools, etc. that promote the capacity building as well as the quality of teaching and learning;
- Increasing the number of joint and/or dual programs in English or another language;
- Increasing the number of foreign students studying at this university;
- Providing study programs in English.
Our Role in the Project
The contribution of AMU in Value-X project will be distributed in every work package and activity organised within the consortium. As a partner in this project, we aim to increase the numbers of incoming and outgoing exchange students, attract more international academics for teaching and research collaboration and createstudent-centred virtual teaching methodology using modern ICT tools. Following the project, we will support in reporting, promotional materials, visibility, and networking. As a result, we will support in didactic and teaching materials in accordance with EU partners ecommendations and to ensure sustainability AMU will follow the right decision-making and approve the needed policy to approve changes in curricula by adding virtual courses. Apart from this we will introduce to the students the new concepts regarding the virtual learning methodologies.
