The Technische Universität Dresden (TUD) is one of eleven German universities that were identified by the German government as an ‘excellence university’. TUD has about 37.000 students, 4.400 publicly funded staff members – among them over 500 professors – and approximately 3.500 externally funded staff members, and, thus, is the largest university in Saxony, today. TUD is strong in research and provides first-rate programmes with an overwhelming diversity, with close ties to culture, industry and society. Having been committed to sciences and the engineering before the reunification of Germany, TUD now is a multidiscipline university, also offering humanities and social sciences as well as medicine, organized in 14 faculties under the roof of 5 schools, making it one of a very few in Germany.

Why we are Participating in the Project

The Chair of Wirtschaftsinformatik – Information Management is active in teaching, research, and knowledge transfer at the interface of economic, organizational and social information technology as well as didactical design. The focus in on support of:

• Complex university and company learning environments through suitable e-learning arrangements
• Knowledge-oriented teamwork through collaborative social software systems.

This is provided by a high-performance interdisciplinary team with a solid background in business informatics and business education. But also the international experience with meanwhile almost 20 years of VCL history should serve as a wealth of experience for all partners in the project.

Our Role in the Project

The Technische Universität Dresden is the project coordinator and will be responsible for the capacity building programme development and implementation and the project management work package:

• Introduction of new pedagogical methodologies and teaching and learning tools
• Didactical development of training materials
• Designing and implementing online learning platforms
• Scheduling and delivery of staff and tutors qualification
• Didactical redesign of exiting university courses
• Coordination and facilitation of Virtual Collaborative Learning courses for Albanian students
• Project management and monitoring
• Partner coordination and moderation
• Project documentation and reporting
• Financial management and internal auditing
